Because we will tell you where this technology is going, and we have followed it there. Our Angular developers have logged at least 16,900 hours across four client products, and nobody is allocated to Angular here today — not because we let a skill lapse, but because the requests stopped coming and we staffed to the demand that replaced them. The largest of those products tells the same story: 13,900 hours and six developers between 2022 and the start of 2025, when its Angular front end finished moving to React, which our own teams did. Nobody is on Angular work right now, so a request today means recruiting rather than matching — and our honest expectation is weeks, not days. The faster answer is often one of our React developers who has spent years in an Angular codebase, because several of them have.

For maintenance it works well, because maintenance is mostly about who has read the code. For a migration it works only if the team knows both sides. The Angular-to-React move on our largest Angular product was done by people who had been in that codebase since 2022, which is the only reason the front end could be replaced while the product kept shipping. A team that knows only the destination framework will rewrite your business rules from a spec that does not exist.

Three kinds. Keeping an existing Angular application running and current, which is where most of those 16,900 hours went. Moving off Angular incrementally — screen by screen, with both frameworks live at once — rather than as a rewrite that stops feature work for a year. And second-opinion work: reading an Angular codebase and saying plainly whether it should be migrated, upgraded, or left alone. We will take the third job even when the answer means we get no further work.

Angular is an application design framework and development platform for creating efficient and sophisticated single-page apps. Angular is built entirely in TypeScript and uses it as a primary language. As it is a framework it has many useful built-in features like routing, forms, HTTP client, Internationalization (i18n), animations, and many more.

TypeScript is a typed superset of JavaScript created by Microsoft that adds optional types, classes, async/await, and many other features, and compiles to plain JavaScript. Angular is built entirely in TypeScript and used as a primary language. You can install it globally.

Angular has several key concepts and components that form its architecture:

• Component: The basic building block of an Angular application and is used to control HTML views.
• Modules: An Angular module contains basic building blocks like components, services, directives, etc. Using modules you can split your application into logical pieces where each piece performs a single task and is called a module.
• Templates: A template represents the view of an Angular application.
• Services: Services are used to create components that can be shared across the entire application. Service is a broad category encompassing any value, function, or feature that an app needs. A service is typically a class with a narrow, well-defined purpose. It should do something specific and do it well.
• An Angular component should focus on presenting data and enabling the user experience. It should mediate between the application logic (data model) and the view (rendered by the template).

Angular services help us to separate non-view-related functionality to keep component classes lean and efficient.

• Metadata: Metadata is used to add more data to an Angular class.

There are several ways to implement component communication in Angular:

• Data sharing between parent and one or more child components using the @Input() and @Output() directives.
• Data sharing using an Angular service
• Using state management, like NgRx
• Read and write data to local storage
• Pass data via URL parameters

The AsyncPipe subscribes to an observable or promise and returns the latest value it has emitted. When a new value is emitted, the pipe marks the component to be checked for changes.
