Our Python practice has delivered roughly 48,000 engineering hours across five product teams, staffed four to eight developers each. That matters when you are hiring for Django: the framework rewards teams who have lived with a schema, a migration history, and a permissions model for years, not ones who ship a prototype and leave.

It depends on whether we already have the right person. When a Python developer is between engagements, you can be running within days. When we recruit for you, our closed Python roles have taken a median of about seven weeks from brief to signed offer. It works when the team stays with the codebase. Django projects accumulate migrations, custom managers, and admin customisations that are expensive to hand over, so rotation costs far more than the day rate saves. Look for that continuity when you compare vendors, along with overlapping working hours and direct access to the developers rather than an account manager.

Django is a Python web framework that ships with an ORM, an admin interface, authentication, and migrations out of the box. It is the strongest option when your product is data-heavy and rules-heavy — internal tooling, marketplaces, dashboards, anything with real permissions and reporting. It is a weaker fit when you mainly need a thin, very high-throughput API layer, where a lighter framework will get out of your way.

Django when the product has substantial domain logic and you want the admin, ORM, and auth on day one. FastAPI when you are building an API surface where async throughput and typed schemas matter more than batteries. Flask when you want to assemble a small service from parts you pick yourself. Plenty of our Python teams run more than one in the same system — Django for the core product, FastAPI for a high-traffic service alongside it.

Typically four to eight developers, which is the range our current Python engagements sit in, plus a project manager who is on your standups rather than reporting from a distance. Larger teams are usually a product with several surfaces — a customer app, an internal back office, and an integration layer. We staff to the work rather than to a package, and you can scale the team down as readily as up.
